The lighting system for a church was redesigned to allow the stained glass windows to be more easily seen from the inside and also to better illuminate them at night so the colour and glory could seen from afar. New long-life 25 watt fluorescent bulbs, each yielding the same light as a 100 watt incandescent bulb were used in a series of 6 bulbs in each lamp. The result is an energy-efficient source of light with 600 watts generated from 30 lamps.
