The altar of this church is adorned with a vista painted in oil and sculpture. The pivotal moment in the history of the church is depicted with a Corpus, a 6-foot sculpture of the crucified Christ, which hangs from a solid oak 18 foot cross, and protrudes in front of a life sized painted scene. The painting portrays the surrounding events and emotions of the crucifixion, with dark clouds moving above, Roman soldiers, weeping believers and Mary Magdalene. John the disciple is comforting Mother Mary as she witnesses the death of her Son. The enormous 23-foot wide by 50-foot high (8x17m) oil painting, made in 49 sections, uses gold, amber, and blue colours that foreshadow the victory of the resurrection, and welcomes parishioners to remember their true hope in the risen Lord.
